Rob's Early History
Growing up in the tough “Motor City” of Detroit Michigan, the son of a Detroit police officer Rob began martial arts training 25 years ago at the age of 10 under Takase Sensei, a revered Judo Master from Japan.

A Passion for Martial Arts
As Rob’s passion for martial arts took root, he trained in many traditional fighting systems. His dedication led to the attainment of Black Belts in three martial arts. Shotokan, Kenpo and Kajukenbo. During these years Rob made a goal to compete in one nationally rated tournament per year, winning Grand Championships in 12 consecutive tournaments in Sparring, Self-Defense and Full Contact Weapons Fighting.
Real World Opportunities
Although Rob enjoyed competition his years growing up in Detroit taught him that there was a huge reality gap between a tournament and a real fight. Wanting to put his years of training into practical use Rob was employed by Trident Security a professional security training agency where he worked from January 1999 to August 2006. During these years Rob had many opportunities to not only learn from some of the best in the industry but to test his skills in the real world.
“I believe my experiences have given me a dose of reality that many martial arts instructors unfortunately don’t have. I speak from my experience, not theory. I’ve seen first hand what works, what doesn’t. I’ve also seen what happens to people when their skills sets fail them. Without question this experience helps my clients to achieve their full potential, to live a strong life where they are not victims to anyone.”
Rob's Travels and Training
Rob travels throughout the United States to train with such men as Paul Vunak of Progressive Fighting Systems and Jason Trident of Warrior One Combatives. Collectively these men have trained members of the FBI, CIA, DEA, Air Marshals, Navy SEALs, British SAS Operatives and V.I.P Security Teams the world over.
Rob continues to make yearly trips to various parts of the world such as the Philippines and Israel so he can receive training directly from the source of the martial arts he teaches.
A student as well as an instructor Rob was recently honored to be hand picked by renowned knife fighting expert Nigel February. Rob is to oversee the U.S.A operations for the infamous Cape Town knife fighting system; Piper.
Rob Launches Method Training
One of Robs proudest moments came in 2006 when he began his own fitness and martial arts training facility called Method Training. In doing so he was able to devote his time to the founding of Fight Back, considered by many who have trained in it to be one of the most practical, realistic and highly intensive female fitness and self-defense courses available anywhere.
Community Involvement
Rob is very active in the community and in the Church. He keeps a very busy schedule teaching here in Arizona and training around the world. In his off time Rob enjoys spending time pursuing outdoor activities with his wife Deborah and their daughter Megan.
